THE VILLAGE GRIND

Tucked away under a stairwell between Calypso and The Ginger Man, the Village Grind is an easy place to miss. If asked, we would call it more of a bar than a coffee shop.

There is such a large selection of items that it is almost impossible to choose what to order. They boast a wide selection of bottled beer, a couple of beers on draft, some exotic frozen drinks and a large selection of mixed drinks as well as the standard repertoire of coffee/espresso concoctions. They'll be happy to spice up your coffee any way you like.

This is a great place to go with a few friends, but it gets crowded. There are a couple of couches on which to kick back, a patio lining Morningside Drive and a few bar stools inside.

The Grind has a magazine rack and copies of the weekly papers in addition to cable TV. The Village Grind also offers e-mail/Internet access. Occasionally they host entertainment on weekends. Ronnie Po (WRC '91) plays original work and cover songs on his guitar twice a month. Go check him out. You can also sign up for an e-mail list that announces events at the Grind.

The Village Grind is located on Morningside between University Boulevard and Rice Boulevard.
