EDITORIAL: `CAMPANILE'

Incoming staff deserves kudos for seeking student opinion

Kudos to the new Campanile editors for volunteering their time to publish a yearbook that the students really want. We at the Thresher applaud their decision to survey the student body and give this year's staff a better idea of what the student body wants. But as usual, us nosy Thresher folk would like to make some recommendations for the new administration:

* Continue to seek input from the student body. As the Thresher should be the students' newspaper, the Campanile should be the students' yearbook.

* Set the groundwork for future administrations. Work together. Set a precedent for teamwork and responsiveness.

* Make it a goal to include as many different faces in the Campanile as possible. In addition to "Picture Yourself," the Campanile should consider college group shots as a way to accomplish this.

* Do not make a CD-ROM supplement. The 'Nile 's money would be better spent upon producing the best hard copy possible.

* Don't be a square: Reconsider the nine inches by nine inches format.

Rice University does indeed need and deserve a student yearbook. Let's keep the tradition going.
