* A graduate school forum held by Career Services lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center.
* It's the last day to sign up at the information desk in the Student Center for MasterCard ACTS.
* See the volleyball team take on the University of New Mexico at 7:30 p.m. at Autry Court.
* A junior recital featuring violinist William Fedkenheuer will begin at 8 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall. Free.
* E.T. the Extra-terrestrial is playing at the Rice Media Center at 7:30 p.m. and again at 9:45 p.m. Show your student ID (for a $1 discount) and relive your childhood for $3.50.
SATURDAY, OCT. 12
* Screw Yer Roommate, the ultimate in blind dating, lasts from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center. Enjoy screw-driver punch, other drinks and food. A DJ will be playing requests. Free.
* Come and watch the volleyball team play the University of Texas, El Paso at 7:30 p.m. at Autry Court.
* A double feature of Werner Herzog films kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at the Rice Media Center with Fata Morgana . Stay for Even Dwarfs Started Small , a satire about a group of midgets, at 8:45 p.m. (Both films are in German with subtitles.) Admission for one or both films is $3.50 with a student ID.
SUNDAY, OCT. 13
* The Campanile Orchestra, conducted by Scott O'Neil, plays pieces by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and others. It starts at 8 p.m. in Stude Concert Hall. Free.
* Laurence Olivier's Henry V shows at 7:30 p.m. at the Rice Media Center. Tickets cost $3.50 with a student ID.
MONDAY, OCT. 14
* Does your hair impede your vision, causing you to run into things? Perhaps it's time to go to the Grand Hall Lobby of the Student Center for Barber Day. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can get a $5 haircut there.
* Play poker, Uno or chess at Game Night at the CoffeeHouse. It starts at 10 p.m. and is free.
* The RSVP meeting begins at 9 p.m. in Miner Lounge in the Student Center.
* The SA meets at 10 p.m. in Kelley Lounge in the Student Center.
* SYZYGY, a New Music at Rice concert, begins at 8 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall. Free.
* The Rice Republicans and the Rice Young Democrats hold a debate from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Farnsworth Pavilion in the Student Center. It will be carried on either Rice Channel 11 or 91.7 FM (not yet determined) and will be moderated by Ryan Levy.
TUESDAY, OCT. 15
* Career Services' Good Work Fair: Opportunities for Social Change lasts from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 16
* Come to the campus-wide presidential debate watch at 8 p.m. in Kelley Lounge in the Student Center. Discussion will follow.
* The 1996 Rice Young Democrats Luncheon Series continues with
Texas State Representative and Will Rice College alum Scott Hochberg speaking from noon to 1 p.m. in the WRC Private Dining Room.
THURSDAY, OCT. 17
* As part of the Holocaust Lecture Series, Christopher Browning will speak at 8 p.m. in the Kyle Morrow Room of Fondren Library.
* Princeton University Professor Amy Gutmann gives a lecture entitled "Deliberating about Race." It lasts from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Sewall Hall, Room 301.
