QUICKER THAN THE EYE BY RAY BRADBURY
Recently released in hardcover,
Quicker Than the
Eye
is a collection of 22 new short stories by Ray Bradbury, a master of
science fiction. Well known for his novels (
Fahrenheit 451
) and short
stories (
The Martian Chronicles
), Bradbury has been an inspiration to
many of today's well-known writers. Although some of the stories in
Quicker
Than the Eye
venture into the mysterious realms of the Bermuda Triangle and
Mars, most of them revolve around seemingly ordinary circumstances. Once again,
Bradbury displays his gift for making science fiction tangible, almost
believable. Despite the fact that several wild ideas from Bradbury's earlier
writings have come true, his new work still forges ahead into the future,
unravels the past and redefines the present. As one of the characters puts it,
"That's all science fiction was ever about. Hating the way things are, wanting
to make things different." In
Quicker Than the Eye
, Bradbury
successfully builds a world of fantasy and awe sure to entertain your
imagination.
