NEWS IN BRIEF: Nominations taken for Outstanding Rice Women

Nominations are now being accepted for the 1997 Rice Outstanding Women Awards. The Women's Resource Center will profile 14 Outstanding Rice Women in conjunction with the Women's Resource Center anniversary celebrations.

One student from each residential college, three graduate students, one alumna, one faculty member and one staff member will be selected who meet the following qualifications:

* Minimum GPA of 3.0 for students.

* Demonstrate service to the campus and community.

* Demonstrate involvement and participation in student life/activities at Rice and/or beyond.

* Serve as a positive influence in raising awareness of issues affecting her community.

* Serve as a role model in the empowerment of women.

The Women's Resource Center anniversary celebration is Feb. 7, 1997.
