* Regulators, mount up! It's time to head out for mid term recess, which
(as if you haven't been counting the days in anticipation of this moment )
starts today and lasts through March 9.
* On March 1, the Asian Studies program and the Center for the Study of
Cultures will sponsor a
public panel discussion on internationalizing
disciplines from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Kyle Morrow Room of Fondren
Library. Free.
* On Feb. 28, come see the baseball team obliterate Texas Christian University
at Cameron Field at 7 p.m.
* On March 1, see the baseball team crush TCU at Cameron Field at 2 p.m.
* On March 2, the baseball team battles TCU again at 1 p.m. at Cameron Field.
* On March 4, Texas A&M University comes to campus to take on the baseball
team at 7 p.m. at Cameron Field.
* On Feb. 28, check out the Shepherd School Composers Forum at 8 p.m. in Duncan
Recital Hall featuring works for chamber orchestra and string quartet. Free.
* On March 5, yet another newsmaker comes to campus. Come see Palestinian
Authority President Yasir Arafat speak at the Grand Hall of the Student Center
at 6:30 p.m. Make sure to arrive by 6 p.m. (preferably earlier), and bring your
Rice ID to be admitted.
FRIDAY, MARCH 7
* Come out to the ball park and check out the baseball team as they aim
high against Air Force Academy at 7 p.m. at Cameron Field.
* Are there really grizzly bears in Utah? Come and see for yourself as the Utah
Grizzlies come to the Summit to take on the Houston Aeros at 7 p.m.
* If you buy a $4.50 ticket, they will come. Well, actually you can see
Field of Dreams
at 7:30 p.m. at the Rice Media Center. Get a $1 discount
with a Rice ID.
* Re-live the days when Cher still had a career in
The Witches of
Eastwick
. Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jack Nicholson also star
in the film, which plays at 9:30 p.m. in the Rice Media Center. Tickets are

SATURDAY, MARCH 8
* The baseball team will face Air Force once again at 2 p.m. at Cameron
Field.
* Come and watch the Houston Masterworks Chorus as they present "Bernstein to
Broadway," which showcases a variety of American musical classics. Robert
Brewer conducts the chorus. The Rob Landes Jazz Trio is also featured at 8 p.m.
in Stude Concert Hall. Ticket prices are $15 to $25. Call (713) 529-8900 for

* One of the most critically acclaimed French films ever made shows at the Rice
Media Center. Marcel Carne's
Les Enfants du Paradis

* After two crushing defeats, Air Force will come back for more

TUESDAY, MARCH 11
* McNeese State University
comes to campus to be schooled
by the
baseball team at 5 p.m. at Cameron Field.
* Houston Friends of Music presents Cappella Nova performing a Mass for Easter
at Stude Concert Hall. The group will perform the works of Robert Johnson and
William Byrd. The group will perform songs of springtime, including works by
Benjamin Britten, Robert Burns and Arthur Sullivan. Seating is by reservation
and tickets cost $20 to $25. The concert begins at 8 p.m. For ticket

* Violinist Gary Hung presents a senior recital featuring the music of
Prokofiev, Dvorak and Ives at 8 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall. Free.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12
* The women's tennis team will serve up victories against the University
of North Carolina at 1:30 p.m. at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
* Be an equal-opportunity

face Ball State University at 2:30 p.m. at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
THURSDAY, MARCH 13
* So you can't get enough of that women's tennis? Then check out the

* Horn player Kimberly Penrod performs a junior recital featuring a Mozart
piece at 5:30 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall. Free.
