"SKY POWER OVER HOUSTON"
Don't be the only person in all of southeast Texas to miss Houston
Industries Power of Houston '97 firework and laser light display over downtown.
Rumored to be the largest show of its type in North America, pyrotechnicians
will detonate over 12 tons of explosives.
Also included in the spectacular will be 12 lasers strategically placed on the
roofs of buildings throughout downtown. The Rice Athletic Department, in
coordination with several other campus organizations, has succeeded in opening
the west end of Rice Stadium for seating during the show.
Gates will open at 9 p.m., and concession stands will also be open to serve
spectators.
Seating at Rice Stadium begins at 9 p.m. Display starts at 10:10 p.m.
Students, faculty and local residents are invited.

Hear the superwoman in action at Borders Bookstores or the Museum of
Fine Arts. The MFA performance includes music from Monumental Mariachi 2000 and
should make the her poetry and voice even more memorable.
Borders Bookstore, Meyerland Plaza at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Free.
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonet at 3 p.m. Sunday. $3 for
students, senior citizens and museum members; $4 otherwise.
