| McMurtry comes home |

Pulitzer prize-winning novelist and 1960 Rice alumnus and lecturer Larry McMurtry speaks as part of the President's Lecture Series in the Grand Hall of the RMC Wednesday night. McMurtry's books include Lonesome Dove , The Last Picture Show and Terms of Endearment . In his speech, Larry McMurtry expressed his worry and sorrow over the disappearance of manners in our society. He blames our society's loss of manners on the media, especially television. This item appeared in the News section of the September 26, 1997 issue. |
