when it's time to act, who does?
The
Thresher
perceived a serious threat to its integrity as a newspaper,
and it responded with a gutsy gesture that could not be ignored. I've talked
to a member of the editorial staff who assured me that every advertiser was
consulted beforehand. As for wasting trees, does anyone remember any of the
articles from last September's
Thresher
s? The "blank" issue spoke
volumes.
The
Thresher
followed up with a larger issue featuring more background
material on the issues at hand, along with multiple pages of reader response.
This clearly demonstrates a commitment to fair and comprehensive journalism.
The
Thresher
has effectively issued a challenge to the student body.
Unless we have too much homework this week, maybe we can live up to the
Thresher
's expectations and use this forum to turn our dialogues toward
positive change.
