by Joel Hardi Freshman linebacker Ryan McMillan stretches to reach University of Texas freshman running back Hodges Mitchell but comes up empty in Saturday's heartbreaking 38-31 loss to the Longhorns at Rice Stadium. Rice dominated in the first quarter and led for much of the game but saw that lead evaporate in the fourth quarter when Texas capitalized on a Rice roughing the punter penalty to go ahead 35-31. This item appeared in the News section of the October 3, 1997 issue.
