Famous alumni make Rice proud
| |
Within this century, many Rice graduates have achieved
success and risen to the top of their respective fields. Writers, a United
States cabinet member, famed physicists, a virologist and venture capitalists
walked through the same Sallyport that hundreds of freshmen and seniors also
walk through each year. When the Rice Institute opened its doors to students in
1912, there were 48 male and 29 female students taught by 10 male faculty
members. Since that time, the diversity of the career fields and backgrounds
of successful alumni has grown, revealing the diversity of Rice's strengths as
an academic institution.
