* The Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Larry

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2
* The Shepherd School Chamber Orchestra presents a concert including the
works of Beethoven, Brahms, and Ratliff. The concert begins at 8 p.m. in Stude
Concert Hall. Admission is free.
* The Three Point Club sponsors Hot Dogs and Hoops -- a chance to meet and
mingle with members of the men's and women's basketball teams from 3:30 to 7
p.m. in Autry Court. Pay $1 for all of the hotdogs and chili you can eat. For

* SCAB hosts Barber Day in the Student Center. The cuts are cheap,

* Professor Harvey Yunis gives an Ancient Mediterranean Civilization talk
entitled "Politics as Literature: Demosthenes and the Burden of the Athenian
Past." The speech begins at 4 p.m. in Sewall Hall, Room 305.

* The volleyball team takes on the powerful women of Lamar University at
7:30 p.m. at Autry Court.

* Applications for Envision Grants are due by 8 a.m. today. Envision
Grants are available for selected projects that show innovation, leadership,
service, and/or creativity. Applications are available online

* The English department presents a lecture by Margaret Ezell, professor of
English at Texas A&M. Her lecture is entitled "Making National Literary
Histories: Gender, Genre, Geography, and the Early Modern British Author." The
