"Creative Movement" Dance Programs' newest class!
Creative Movement uses movement and music to stimulate children's physical and intellectual development. In these classes, parents move with their child in playful movement activities using rhymes, music, and props fostering coordination, creativity, rhythmic skills, and health boosting exercise. Now with two sections!
Creative Movement for Parents and Infants
For babies 3 months to not-yet walking. Creative Movement uses movement and music to stimulate a child's physical and intellectual development by combining the developmental richness of music and imaginative play with the health-boosting benefits of physical activity. Babies delight in movement for movement's sake. In this class, parents will move with their babies in playful activities using rhymes, music, and maniplatives designed to foster that delight. Infants will strengthen bonds with their care-givers while increasing gross motor, communication, and rhythmic skills

- Saturdays, 10-10:45 a.m.

Registration:
Register and pay at the Operations Desk located at the entrance of the
Recreation Center (Gymnasium). Registration begins two weeks prior to
the start of the first class.

For children walking to 2 and a half years of age and their caregivers. Creative Movement uses movement and music to stimulate a child's physical and intellectual development by combining the developmental richness of music and imaginative play with the health-boosting benefits of physical activity. In this class, parents will move with their toddlers in playful activities using rhymes, music and manipulatives designed to increase coordination, rhythmic skills, and creative thought.

"Keep on Dancing" Spring session is open!
The Dance program is once again offering it's extremely popular "Keep on Dancing" specialty class to any and everyone interested in re-kindling their dancing roots.
“Keep on Dancing” is a dance class for adults who want to study jazz and modern dance technique with an emphasis on the fun and fulfillment of learning and performing dance combinations to music. Each class begins with exercises for dance fitness, covers basic dance techniques common to ballet, modern dance, and jazz dance, and then culminates with dance combinations for the practice and joy of performing.
Classes, Spring 2008:
Jazz/Hip-Hop
- Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- with Jackie Nalett
The class begins with a traditional jazz technique warm-up (plies, isolations, footwork) followed by combinations choreographed in a music video style.

For 8 classes: $30 students, $40 faculty/staff, $50 non-Rice
Registration:
Sign up begins Jan.17 at the Operations Desk inside the Recreation Center.
Class space is limited to 24 participants.
Registration will be on a first come first serve basis.
