Bowl ’Em Over
Dec. 30, 2008, was a day Rice football fans will remember well. In a near-perfect performance in Reliant Stadium, the Owls defeated the Western Michigan University Broncos 38–14 and ended more than 50 years of postseason frustration by winning their first bowl game since the 1954 Cotton Bowl.

Coach of the Year

After a season for both the record books and the storybooks, Rice Head Football Coach David Bailiff has been named the Conference USA (C-USA) Coach of the Year. But Bailiff isn’t taking it personally.

Dynamic Duo
Rice prides itself on the better-than-passing grade point averages of its student–athletes, but quarterback Chase Clement and wide receiver Jarett Dillard also have made the grade with better-than-average passing points for their record-breaking achievements in pass–reception.
