Connecting to Secure 802.1X on a Mac

Download both Radius-A and Radius-B server certificates to your local machine desktop.

Click on the certificate files to add them to your keychain.  You will be prompted on where to add them, (x509Anchors) and the screen will look like the following (you will get one prompt for each certificate):

Your key-chain screen will look like this.  Double click to enter the properties of each certificate, as you need to set them to “Always Trust”.

 

Scroll down, and expand the “Trust Settings”.  Select “Always Trust” for each certificate in the “When using this certificate” box.

On your taskbar, select the symbol for your radio/airport card, and choose "Open Internet Connect..."

On the File menu, select "New 802.1x Connection..." which will place a new button on your window, that looks like this:

In the "Configuration:" menu, select New Configuration

Enter the data as above (Place your NetID and password in the appropriate spots); the Wireless Network is "Rice Owls".  For Authentication, ensure that only TTLS is enabled.  Click "Configure".

Ensure PAP is the selection for "TTLS Inner Authentication".  Click ok.

Click OK.

Your connection window will look like this now, with the appropriate info in place of your NetID and password.  Select “OK”

On this connection screen, click “Connect”.

 You will then see the same screen, but with the Status will change to "Connected via TTLS", with the timer.

Congratulations!  You are now connected to the Rice Owls wireless network!
