Connecting to Secure 802.1X on a PC
NOTE: Your machine will reboot, so remember to save any open documents prior to clicking "Finish" at the end of installation. A. Installation of client softwareDownload the software from SecureW2 (http://www.securew2.com). Click on products, and choose the appropriate software for your OS, saving the file to your desktop. Right click the downloaded file and extract the files to a folder. Open the folder containing the software, and double-click on the file "SecureW2_312.exe."
Depending on your security settings, you may or may not get this window. If you do, Click "Run."
Click "Next" on the window below:
Click "I Agree."
Click "Install" – leave the default selections.
Ensure the option "Reboot now" is checked, and click on the "Finish" button. NOTE: Your machine will reboot, so remember to save any open documents prior to clicking "Finish."
B. ConfigurationAfter your machine has rebooted, right click on "My Network Places" and select Properties. Right click on "Wireless Network Connection", and select Properties.
Select the "Wireless Networks" tab.
On the window that pops up (below), click on the "Add" button.
Fill in the SSID (Rice Owls), and select "WPA" for network authentication, and TKIP for data encryption.
You are now setting up the "SecureW2"
Enter Profile ID: Rice. Then click OK.
De-select "Use alternate outer identity" to remove the check box, and check "Enable session resumption (quick connect)."
Select the Certificates tab and de-select "Verify server certificate."
Select the "Authentication" tab, and select "PAP" in the drop down menu.
Click the "User Account" tab and input your NetID and password. Leave the Domain area blank. Click OK.
Click OK.
Click OK.
Click OK.
Your Windows machine will detect the Wireless Network Connection, and you will have a pop-up telling you when you are connected. You are now connected to the Rice Owls wireless network. |
