Carson appointed dean of Natural Sciences
Dan Carson, the Trustees Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware, has been named the dean of Rice University’s Wiess School of Natural Sciences. Carson will succeed Kathleen Matthews, who is relinquishing the position on Dec. 31. As dean, Carson will play a key role in advancing the school's education and research as well as expanding its financial resources.
Students share details from a life-changing journey
Through a program called Beyond Traditional Borders, Rice University students are visiting Africa this summer to learn about health care in the developing world. The students, who are designing health technologies and educational programs for implementation, are writing about their life-changing experiences in online journals.
