Rice alumni and friends,
We take great pride in announcing that the Rice: The Next Century Campaign—the largest campaign in the history of Rice University—has been an outstanding success. It truly has been an honor and privilege for both of us to serve as co-chairmen of this ambitious effort.
Rice launched the campaign with two overarching goals in mind: to raise funds to expand and improve the academic and research efforts of the university and to enhance the stature of Rice as an exceptional institution of higher education. Clearly, we have accomplished both.
Today, as a result of the campaign, the Rice campus is home to new and remodeled state-of-the-art buildings and facilities, new and expanded programs, additional chairs for acclaimed faculty, and many new undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships for the high-caliber students that Rice strives to enroll.
The success of this campaign could not have been achieved without the unwavering determination and commitment of many people—those who gave the time, energy, and gifts that allowed Rice to achieve such impressive results. We salute all of you and extend a special thanks to President Malcolm Gillis, who had the vision for the campaign and, with Elizabeth, remained our foremost leaders and fundraisers.
Thank you for your support. We hope that you take pride in the role that you played in the success of the Rice: The Next Century Campaign.
Our gratitude to all of you.
