Kiplinger Names Rice Among Best Buys
Rice has placed among the top slots of yet two more rankings of U.S. colleges and universities.
“Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine named Rice second in its ranking of the 100 best values in private colleges and universities across the nation. California Institute of Technology was ranked first. Rounding out the top 10 were Williams College, Swarthmore College, Amherst College, Webb Institute, Yale University, Washington and Lee University, Harvard University, and Stanford University. The complete list is available in the January 2004 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance and at http://www.kiplinger.com.
The Princeton Review, in its new book America’s Best Value Colleges, named Rice fourth after the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Amherst College, and City University of New York’s Brooklyn College. The 77 schools that met the publication’s criteria were rated on academics, tuition, and the average amounts that students receive in scholarships and grants, among other factors. Two other Texas universities made the top 10: Southwestern University in Georgetown was seventh, and the University of Texas at Austin was eighth.
