Kamran Khan
Vice Provost for Information Technology
Kamran Khan became the first Vice Provost for Information Technology for Rice University on March 1, 2004. Overseeing a dedicated staff of 120 IT professionals, the Vice Provost provides the broad vision to manage computing resources and services for the campus. His leadership encompasses envisioning and planning for the effective use of emerging technologies within the university's mission in the areas of academic computing, instructional technology, campus systems and infrastructure, client services, enterprise applications, research computing support, networking, and security.
Khan is also active in the international academic computing community as well as in local, state, regional, and national networking groups and often presents at conferences in the area of information technology. Khan has received two National Science Foundation (NSF) awards and has served on three NSF review panels.

Professional Experience
Prior to coming to Rice, Khan served for six years as Vice President of Information Technology/Chief Information Officer
at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. His professional experience also includes serving as Director of Computing and Information Technologies at Hollins
University in Roanoke, VA and Director of Management Information Systems in the Office of Institutional Advancement at
Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
