Enterprise Applications (EA)

The Enterprise Applications (EA) staff provides web and database services through the Web Services group, marketing and communications initiatives for the IT division, and database and IT support for Fondren Library and Facilities Engineering & Planning.

Projects include:

  • Campus Portal - Work with campus groups to create an information portal for the Rice community using uPortal software. Pilot project features will include webmail, calendar, course management, Connexions, library journals, Esther, Banner, announcements, student organizations, and other channels.
  • Facilities Management System - two year project to implement a world class facilities management system that can serve the needs of larger campus community. The project is being implemented with Administrative Systems, FE&P, and IT.
  • Content management - upgrade the Web Services' eMPower system to a version with a robust java client that will support PCs, Macs, and Linux workstations.
  • Revamp IT information delivery - Introduce a new web site structure to make it easier for faculty, staff, and students to find the information they need.
  • Sharepoint services - Introduce Microsoft sharepoint collaborative services for Web Services clients.
  • Faculty Information System - Add revisions for new requirements from the Deans’ Offices, improve usability and documentation, and provide greater control over data displayed for downstream web pages and data feeds.
