They are illegal attempts to gain information about your personal identity and/or your Rice information. Vice Provost for Information Technology

The division of Information Technology (IT) provides campus-wide computing services and resources to the faculty, staff, and students of Rice University in the areas of academic and research computing, instructional technology, campus systems and infrastructure, client services, enterprise applications, and networking and security. The Vice Provost for Information Technology provides oversight to all aspects of the IT organization including planning, operations, customer service, and organizational development. Working with the Board of Trustees, President, Provost, Vice Presidents, and senior management, the Vice Provost supports the university's technological needs that vary from integrating technology into the curriculum to supporting research computing to assisting in administrative projects. The Vice Provost also serves as co-chair of the Information Technology Advisory Committee, which has representatives from each academic and administrative division of the university. The vision and leadership of the Vice Provost shapes a comprehensive technical strategy to support the mission and goals of the university. Kamran M.
