On Tuesday, July 25, a letter from the Vice Provost for IT was mailed to the permanent address for each undergraduate student. If you are traveling or if you remained at Rice for the summer, you may read the letter online: http://www.rice.edu/it/Fall2006-VPIT-Letter.html

IMPORTANT! Update your computer BEFORE you arrive at Rice if possible.

In order to access the new Rice network, your computer must run on Windows 2000 or XP or Macintosh 10.3 or 10.4 (or subsequent releases of these operating systems) and you must have Anti-Virus software such as PC-Cillin installed on Windows computers.

New Email System and Storage for Rice Students

On August 7-10, all student email accounts will be migrated to the new campus email system which offers increased storage quotas (1GB for undergrads and 2GB for grad students).

After the migration is complete, update your email folder settings if you utilize any of the following email client applications: Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, or Entourage, Netscape, Mozilla, Seamonkey, Thunderbird, or Rice Webmail - IMP
