Countywide Soils Information Map - provides up-to-date information on soil types throughout Lane County, except for the Willamette and Umpqua national forests. Produced through a cooperative effort between the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the City of Eugene, Lane County, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Lane Council of Governments, the project started in July 1992 and took about a year to complete. Each agency has a complete copy of the data compatible with its geographic information system. The new information will help identify and map wetland soils. For more information, contact the Lane Council of Governments at 683-4283. West Eugene Wetland Inventory - is the updated inventory, including approximately 163 acres of newly identified wetland and 129 acres of potential wetland. Copies of the final report and photocopies of maps are available for a small copying fee at the Eugene Planning Department, 687-5481. Soon To Be Released West Eugene Wetlands Plan Mitigation Manual - provides details of how mitigation for the 288 acres of wetland identified for future urban uses will be administered, managed, and maintained so there is a "no net loss" of wetland resources. Affected property owners will find the manual helpful because it clearly spells out mitigation requirements and options for meeting the requirements. The manual will also be useful to engineers, wetland ecologists, landscape architects, soil scientists, biologists, and other professionals engaged in mitigation design and improvement projects. Additionally, the manual will benefit local wetland managers responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining mitigation projects. A draft version of the manual currently is being reviewed by federal and state regulatory and resource agencies. When the review is completed, a final version will be published and made available for purchase by the public. Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan has been adopted by the Eugene City Council to address four primary program areas: flood control. water quality, natural resources (when related to stormwater conveyance and water quality), and operations and maintenance. The goal of the stormwater plan is to manage each of tbe program areas so they are coordinated and consistent throughout the plan while meeting the requirements of federal law, the needs of the community, and the multiple objectives of the plan. Copies of the final plan are scheduled to be available in July 1994. To request a copy of the plan or for more information about the City of Eugene's stormwater program, call 465-2739.
