This is an online exhibit based on Ladders, a new book written by Albert Pope and published by Princeton Architectural Press. Ladders was conceived solely as a book. This exhibit is an adaptation; it is not intended to substitute for the book's ability to sustain incremental, carefully documented arguments. It can, however, open some of the ideas presented in the book to a wider audience, and possibly attract some to become readers of a work they otherwise might not have known they were interested in. The exhibit is broken into seven sections, each accessible through the navigation bar at the top of each page. In general, they have been arranged in order of intensity (left to right). You are, of course, free to browse through the exhibit in any order you choose; however, most web visitors will find the easiest entrance into the occasionally technical material by starting at the beginning (the section called Theater: a short slide show that presents a few of the main themes and images from the book). Credits, a bibliography, a glossary, and the opportunity to give us feedback are all in the last section, Sources. |
